There is always Itunes to get you into trouble. Though the way I typically do it, is that I use the Yahoo free radio and setup a "my station" which they help you with and as you like songs, you set the ratings below those songs and then they pipe similar stuff to you. I have found WHOLE albums of new stuff or some of my favorite writers that have done new stuff that I never knew of because I am so out of touch with the world.
Oh also, Itunes has a Free song of the week thing. I listen to the 30 second promo, if I like it, I download it and it's free. If I *really* like the artist, I go look at their album.

becca and all - try pandora.com - it's a million times better (more sophisticated algorithms for figuring out what you like) than yahoo or any of the other "if you like this, you might like this other thing" services.
