B is for ...

Why are there no B's in hard drives and batteries?

I might be mis-remembering this but I believe that at least in the hard drive story, both A: and B: drives were dedicated to floppy drives once upon a time... There's a twist in the floppy drive cable to distinguish between A: and B: drives (I can't remember which one gets the twisted cable)

I have no idea what's up with batteries but I may not understand that question...

yeah. same question. matt conjectured about the A: and B: floppy drives, but leave it to Deb to actually have experience with the cable itself.

for batteries, I thought perhaps b was reserved for "button cell", but that's a pretty weak excuse not to use B.

God! remember using the A: and B: drives. :) my little 8086 system didn't have a hard drive. I used 5 1/2" floppies and flipped floppies to run one of Microsofts first C compiler programs with an IDE.

Am I dating myself? ;)
